New Hampshire: The Fifth Preppiest New England State.

Take that, Vermont.

Over the years on the blog I have been asked countless times “What is the preppiest state?” (Even more than “Which is preppier, The South or New England,” followed by “Can The South even call themselves preppy?”)

Here is my countdown, from least to most. And yes, I am aware that there are six New England states. But quite honestly, I have nothing to say about the lovely and bucolic Vermont, despite spending a fair amount of time there as a child. (And to be even more truthful, I think of Vermont as more of a weekend get-away destination for New Yorkers than as part of New England. As someone once said to me, Vermont is more of a combination of northern New York state and Canada. Disagree if you must.)
