What I wear tends towards Sloane in Autumn and Preppy in Spring. Given that, this post-winter solstice time falls neatly between the two pure tones.
It is still cold out, and will be so for a while. It was 8 degrees outside this morning. Snow covers the ground, so I still need my thickest sweaters and warmest tweeds to do anything outside.
However, the outside light has changed, now more blue than yellow. The clear, deep skies look like they are from the Arctic. And the holidays are behind us, with most wanting to see red tartans as much as they want to smell another tray of Christmas cookies or hear The Little Drummer Boy streaming again. Instead, the photovores in us all are craving spring colors.
So, this is the time to highlight the other winter garments - with preppy colors but Sloane styles.
Barbours and Dubarrys
Now, instead of reaching for the Sage or Olive Barbours, I grab the Navy Barbours. Instead of the Brown Dubarry boots, I reach for the Navy(s).
