The Janus Effect
More time than at any other time of year, focused by holiday gatherings but almost everywhere in mid-December, there are three very different approaches to clothing. And perhaps life.
Autumnal Soul
There are people who love their warm (in every sense of the word) autumnal clothes. Tattersalls and tartans alongside wool throws by the fire. Sweaters and corduroys and moleskin trousers. And unlike most times of the year, the color gold has its moment. They are wearing what the oldest trustees had worn to the recent homecoming football games. Mossy greens tweeds and Blackthorn walking sticks, sweaters are heavy gauge and may gave shawl collars. With traces of Irish setter hairs if you look hard enough.
